I quit smoking last summer. It is tough to do, but you can do it.

Here are some of the tips that helped me.
1) I saved the money that I usually spent on cigarettes and spent it on myself every couple of weeks. It really adds up fast.
2) I chewed on sunflower seeds and sucked on lollipops to be doing something with my mouth.
3) I put on a little weight (about 20 pounds). I did not worry about it as I knew I would eventually take it off (I did.).
4) Whenever I got the urge to light up, I did something. Walk, errand…anything to get my mind off the urge until it passed.

Hmmmmm….advice….Do all the reading you are assigned, don’t get behind. Hopefully you like speaking in front of people because you will do lots of presentations. Find people in your class you get along with and study together, study group was a big help, but don’t let it get too big or you will have problems. Don’t lose heart if at first you don’t see how it all relates, it will all come together eventually. You will only get as much out of clinical placements as you put in to them.Don’t be afraid to ask questions and try stuff.Don’t be afraid to answer call bells, the nurses will love you.

Hang in there it’s not that bad. When you get out there working you will find yourself doing things with ease that you thought you would never master.Best of luck.

PS. How long is your program and where are you? Mine was 2 years.

First of all, OMG! I am trying for state in the 100 breastroke too. I’m not in high school yet (will be next year) and I have a 1:21 about and I need a 1:17! I’m on the same boat as you! Some quotes that I think of is keep your head in the game and just push yourself even if you think you’re going to die. Before a race, make sure you stretch and get yourself pumped up. Make sure there isnt a lot of drama around you, and just stay alone. Remember to just imagine yourself winning and makin the state cut and you’ll do it!
