Linda asks…
Why am I always so depressed?
I know that there are less fortunate people out there, compared to them, i have a pretty good life.
I have a parent(my parents divorced when i was small and my dad’s back in japan right now), i have a roof over my head, i have food, i have education. the only flaws i can pick out is my childhood, my mom got a job in a small town and brought me there, being literally the only asian there i was teased, i wasn’t beaten up, but everyday i was called godzilla, people would do the asian eye thing, they would call me fat, i was utterly alone for two entire years. i had ONE friend after a year, whom i considered my best friend, but after a year she sent me a e-mail saying she never actually liked me, i was once again alone. unable to bare it i grabbed the opptertunity of my mom getting a job in ottawa and left for good. my mother never knew what was going on, i was too embarassed to tell her, over time i became angry because she would never know what was going on, i always thought, “oh my god! how stupid are you!?” everyday she would come home smiling, trying to kiss me, like nothing was wrong. i was so annoyed. When i got there, i was normal, but eventually i became afraid and i stayed in all day, and became fat, i’m still fat to this day because i because obsessed with the computer over that period. now i have this thing in my head where i think my mom is a retard, i think its from the small town…
but right now, i have a lot of friends, nobody ever calls me fat, and i feel better. but as soon as i get home, i get on the computer, and i become depressed again, i tried to help myself, motivational quotes and stuff, but they dont work, please help?
i get jealous when i see my friends talking to each other on facebook, and i get like 0 notifications.
even now, when my mom comes in my room, i switch tabs so she wont see, i don’t want her to see, because she’ll ask questions, and when i try to explain she never gets it, then we’ll probably get into an an argument which just makes me feel worse.
my parents never told me they love me, i know they probably do but…
i think it’s an asian thing, they tend to be more “get good marks, become a doctor so you’ll have a good life!” she never said anything like “you’re not my daughter!” but she never said she loved me.

Just realize you are stuck on this planet like the rest of us, so make the best of it. I get depressed too. We all have problems. Some people’s lives look so easy, but you really don’t know. Things can look different on the surface. Be thankful for your life. It is a gift. Be thankful for what you have. I find what has kept me going in life is the words of the Bible. Nothing compares to the Bible. It is my favorite thing in the whole world.

Lack of motivational skills–esp. to lose weight? Help?
I am 16 years old and on a fairly strict diet/exercise regimen. It’s been working; I’ve lost 4 lbs. already in under 2 weeks, but I’m starting to find it harder and harder to motivate myself to get up and do the exercise, even though it’s not very difficult work. I really, really want to be thinner; I’m not very heavy but I’m a good deal heavier than most girls I know (admittedly I live in a really rich town with snobs…) and I am transferring schools most likely next fall and I want to be thin and in shape in case I find anyone special, and just to generally make a good impression.
The thing is, I’ve always had a lack of motivational skills. Not to boast, but I’m pretty smart; I’ve won various achievements and awards pertaining to academics and got into 3 honors courses in freshman year (though the school I’m at now doesn’t offer honors courses), but I didn’t work hard at all to get there… I pretty much half-as*ed everything I did, knowing I would be fine; and if it was something important or big I’d wait until the very last minute to do it. I don’t do chores at my house really, except for on occasion… Even with my health I’m lazy (besides the whole fitness thing)…I have good hygiene, but when it comes to doing physical treatments for my respiratory disorder (Cystic Fibrosis) I’ve always had a habit of waiting until my parents are practically red in the face yelling at me to do them.
Do you have any advice??? I’m already in therapy… I have bipolar II disorder, OCD, and anxiety disorder, if that helps. But I really need to pick it up with doing my exercises and all. Any inspirational advice or quotes would be great… Please help. Thank you!!

Buy a copy of I Can Make You Thin by Paul McKenna. Worked for me. I was on a diet for 5months and couldn’t have made it without his NLP therapy techniques.
Or you could go to the I Can Make You Thin website, sign in, and watch the motivational videos for free.
I personally do not know of a better way. He teaches that imagination is stronger than willpower.
You won’t have to fight to lose weight if you change your thinking. It also might help you get motivated to do you respiratory treatments too.

pick a quote and explain why you like it – - quotes listed inside. or pick one!?
pick a quote out of these; or find a quote about anything that you honestly love and you look up to, and say why you like it; if you can
1.) You know how when you were a little kid and you believed in fairy tales, that fantasy of what your life would be, white dress, prince charming who would carry you away to a castle on a hill. You would lie in bed at night and close your eyes and you had complete and utter faith. Santa Claus, the Tooth Fairy, Prince Charming, they were so close you could taste them, but eventually you grow up, one day you open your eyes and the fairy tale disappears. Most people turn to the things and people they can trust. But the thing is its hard to let go of that fairy tale entirely cause almost everyone has that smallest bit of hope, of faith, that one day they will open their eyes and it will come true. – Meredith Grey
—————————————————————————————————
2.) At the end of the day faith is a funny thing. It turns up when you don’t really expect it. Its like one day you realize that the fairy tale may be slightly different than you dreamed. The castle, well, it may not be a castle. And its not so important happy ever after, just that its happy right now. See once in a while, once in a blue moon, people will surprise you , and once in a while people may even take your breath away. – Meredith Grey

3.) At some point, you have to make a decision. Boundaries don’t keep other people out. They fence you in. Life is messy. That’s how we’re made. So, you can waste your lives drawing lines. Or you can live your life crossing them. But there are some lines… that are way too dangerous to cross. – Meredith Grey

4.) you’ve got enemies? good that means you’ve stood up for something in youre life – eminem

5.) If you walked by a street and you was walking a concrete and you saw a rose growing from concrete, even if it had messed up petals and it was a little to the side you would marvel at just seeing a rose grow through concrete. So why is it that when you see some ghetto kid grow out of the dirtiest circumstance and he can talk and he can sit across the room and make you cry, make you laugh, all you can talk about is my dirty rose, my dirty stems and how am leaning crooked to the side, u can’t even see that I’ve come up from out of that – Tupac Shakur
________________________________________________________
6.) But I see now that whether I show up for work or not, the evil forces are going to beat me. They’re going to come 100 percent, so if I dont be 100 percent pure-hearted, I’m going to lose. And thats why I’m losing. – Tupac Shakur

7.) what doesn’t kill you will only make you stronger.

I love all these quotes; my favorite would have to be # 3. To me it is really motivational but it reminds you some lines will never be crossed and i shouldnt even bother trying to cross them and not to be scared to let people in my life because I am a person that has trust issues; i trust FEW people in my life. And even those people i sometimes doubt but i do have reasons behind it.
Okay
youre turn!

“Character cannot be developed in ease and quiet. Only through experience of trial and suffering can the soul be strengthened, ambition inspired, and success achieved. – Helen Keller”
This is my favorite quote!
Because it is true. The only way to becoming a stonger person is to make it through the hardships in life. The difficult times inspire you to do better and through struggling and hard work, you can achieve your dreams. If life was easy and everything just came to you without any kind of struggle, what would you learn in life??

It basically teaches us to put thoughts into action, if we want to achieve something rather than just thinking and wasting time.
